Kent Highway Services are launching an on-line service: "My Kent Highways" which will enable parishes to log highway faults, track enquiries and view or download reports affecting their area. This is scheduled to be launched to members in September and to parishes in October. In addition, "The Members' Highway Fund" will enable us to allocate £25,000 per Member per year to local highway projects, either small projects, or in conjunction with other sources of finance, to larger projects. Clearly, none of this is simple, but I shall be liasing with local parishes on these issues.

K.C.C has recently received a Safeguarding Inspection of Adult Social Care - the most in-depth report for 10 years into Kent Adult Social Care Services. The Government Inspectors' assessments were:

Preventative services - Excellent
Capacity to improve - Excellent
Safeguarding vunerable people - Good

The freight hub planned on a 259 acre site near Borough Green, Platt and Wrotham is an outrageous scheme which will be strongly opposed by all who live and work in this sensitive rural area.

I have received many letters and phone calls expressing residents' shock and concern. We must all work together to see IT NEVER HAPPENS!

This month I am pleased to let you know the use I have made in this current financial year of my Member's grant. Essentially, I respond to requests, and as you can see, local organisations have had useful donations for their projects. Many of the projects benefit young people, a group I am delighted to support.
